Often, I wonder why my Mother named me after her. I’m sure it never occurred to her that the name she gave me resulted in my having the initials O.D.D. As a child I remember being teased and riddled about being odd. I was a little different but never really odd. Years later, I decided to open an Accessories boutique named Le Papillon Noir (The Black Butterfly) where I designed ladies accessories under the name of Odd Designs.

One day I woke up and wondered what I was going to do with my life. I made a decision to return to college. It took 3 years to complete my Associates of Fine Arts Degree from, Sandhills Community College, Pinehurst, North Carolina. I continued my education planning to teach Art in the public school system. In December 2000, I graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Visual Art. However, teaching Art has taken a back seat to actually doing Art!

My art continues to evolve. My new work is a mixture of industrial objects, Raku fired pieces, and recycled copper with a rich patina that’s created using North Carolina Pine Needles.

God has gifted me with a wonderful talent that I am compelled to share with others.

Art is truly my passion! It’s my way of expressing my creative gift. My soul would be empty if I did not do Art!!! I love what I do! I sure hope it shows!
